Privacy Policy

Elevenish is an 11+ quiz app for UK Year 5 and 6 children. We collect as little data as possible and never ask for a child's real name, email, date of birth or location.

Who we are

What we collect

• A nickname (max 16 characters, chosen by the player — please don't use a real name).
• An anonymous device identifier, generated by the app, used to keep progress.
• Optional: the player's school, picked from the public DfE schools list, for school leaderboards.
• An avatar choice.
• Quiz activity: answers, scores, XP, level, streaks, badges and per-category stats.

We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, precise location, photos, contacts or advertising identifiers. There is no account or sign-up.

How we use it

• To run the quiz, save progress and calculate XP, levels and badges.
• To show leaderboards (nickname, avatar, school name and score are visible to other players).
• To improve questions and fix problems.

Legal basis under UK GDPR: legitimate interests (providing the app the user asked for).

What we don't do

• No advertising or ad tracking.
• No selling or sharing data for marketing.
• No profiling beyond in-app quiz statistics.

Who processes data for us

Our hosting providers store data on our behalf (currently Railway for the API and database, and Vercel for this website). They may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Player data is kept while the player is active. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see below). Inactive records may be deleted after a reasonable period.

Children

Elevenish is designed for children aged 9–11 and follows the ICO Age Appropriate Design Code: minimal data, no behavioural advertising, no nudging to share more. Parents and guardians should help children pick a nickname that is not their real name.

Your rights

You (or a parent/guardian) can ask to see, correct or delete a player's data. Email hello@elevenish.org with the nickname and, if you can, the school, and we will respond within one month. To delete data, email us the same details. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
